Louder Than Life 2017 Recap

8 October 2017 Louder Than Life News Review

Hey folks, Jay Wendell here. Another Louder Than Life has come and gone, but left us with a ton of new adventures and stories to keep us going for the coming year. To those of you that were out there rocking out with us, we loved meeting you all, and we’ll see you next year. For those of you that weren’t there, that’s all right, because you could live vicariously through the Rock Rage team.

This year, we couldn’t have asked for better weather, as we had beautiful calm weather throughout. The dust started flying early with Palisades kicking off the day, followed by amazing sets from bands like Through Fire, He Is Legend, Fire From The Gods, amongst others.  We had a chance to speak to Brandon from Palisades, AJ from Fire From The Gods, Through Fire, And Denny from He Is Legend, so make sure to check out our interviews! As the day progressed, we were treated to absolutely amazing sets from the likes of Gojira, Mastodon, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm, and more. But the cap of the night was being able to see Ozzy, despite being ill, rocking out with Zakk Wylde at his side.  He was there to prove that he still could bring it after all of these years.

As day 2 commenced, we were all shaking off the exhaustion and soreness from the previous day, as the new day brought a whole new cornucopia of amazing bands to the forefront.  Starting off with up and coming bands like Black Map, Joyous Wolf and Beartooth, things were on the right foot. But the band that everyone kept talking about was Greta Van Fleet, who absolutely wowed the audience from start to finish. I had a chance to speak with Jake, the guitarist of Greta Van Fleet, which you can listen to Here. Moving on through the day, the lineup just kept getting more dynamic. Performances from fan favorites such as In This Moment, The Pretty Reckless, Rise Against and others kept people going strong, but the crowd packed in like a surging storm by the time Incubus and Prophets of Rage were ready to go.  I can’t help but think t

hat people weren’t ready for the response and energy of Prophets of Rage. There wasn’t a still body to be found, even at the end of an exhausting weekend.

Make sure you get a chance to look through our gallery of photos of the weekend, and take the opportunity to catch some of our interviews we did! And we’ll see you at Aftershock, because Rock Rage Radio really is everywhere. Rock on!
