Speed/Thrash Metal Band Howling Sycamore Release Self-Titled Album ‘Howling Sycamore’
8 December 2017 News
Speed/thrash metal band recently signed a three album contract with Prosthetic Records and will be releasing their self-titled album, ‘Howling Sycamore’. The band is made up of guitarist and producer Davide Tiso, known for his work with Ephel Duath and Gospel of the Witches, singer Jason McMaster of Watchtower and Dangerous Toys as well as drumming sensation Hannes Grossmann of Necrophagist, Obscura and Alkaloid.
What is a “howling sycamore”? Tiso was always fascinated by the symbolism of the sycamore tree, which has special significance in Egyptian religion and that “bridged the world of the dead and the living” in David Lynch’s cult TV series Twin Peaks. He’s was also inspired by the tree itself – turning white in winter and reflecting the moonlight in otherworldly ways, bearing not only mystery but also a certain component of solitude and pain.
The album is filled with speed drumming and guitars, as much to be expected with heavy core metal music. However, Bruce Lamont of Yakuza and Brain Tentacles brings saxophone solos in to the progressive metal mayhem mix. ‘Howling Sycamore’ is set to release January 26, 2018.
