MTXS are a new relentless force in UK metal/hardcore who have been decimating underground venues since forming late 2017. MTXS is an abbreviation of the Greek word ‘metaxis’ – a state of in between; neither here nor there; stuck in purgatory – a metaphor for the darkness the band convey with their punishing new sound. The incomparable energy and aggression of their live show has become one of the UK’s best kept secrets, but all will be unveiled to the world with the release of Ache.
Ache will be available to purchase from release dayhere: mtxs.bigcartel.com
Produced by Erik Bickerstaffe of Loathe, Ache is 10 tracks of pummeling low-tuned dissonant hardcore with strong messages of hope, anger and reflection, touching on many issues including corruption, abandonment, self-awareness, mental health and more. Taking influence from the new wave of American hardcore (Vein, Code Orange, Kublai Khan) as well as classic death/ groove metal (Lamb Of God, Pantera) and nu-metal (Korn and Slipknot), MTXS have created a sound that’s as pummeling as it is hook-laden and infectious. Incorporating blastbeats, huge grooves, guttural roars, rhythmic screams, dissonant chords and beatdowns, MTXS masterfully weave these aesthetics and more together to create a ferocious sound that’s very much their own.
MTXS have supported Oceans Ate Alaska and Cannibal Grandpa in Europe, supported Counterparts at Upsurge Festival and played numerous shows across the country with their friends in Lotus Eater, Loathe and God Complex. The band have also headlined many shows including a two-week run in Europe; an impressive achievement for a band who’ve only been only been around for 18 months.
Demand on the live circuit has resulted in the band being booked to headline Summit Fest, appear at Castlefest. In May they completed a UK headline run and have many more live dates planned for the rest of 2019. MTXS are not only the UK’s fastest rising independent act, they promise to deliver the most intense musical experience you’ll see in 2019.
